UTILITY MODELS

 

The application for grant a utility model patent must relate to one utility model only or to a group of utility models so linked as to form a single general creative concept (unity of utility model requirement).

  1. The required documents for filing a utility model application are as follows:

-          name(s) and address(es) of the author(s) together with the place(s) of residence;

-          description, disclosing the claimed utility model in sufficient detail for it to be made;

-          one or more claims defining the subject matter of the utility model and fully supported by the description;

-          drawings;

-          abstract;

-          Russian translation of the description, claims and abstract;

-          power of attorney (simply signed).;

 

The time period from filing to obtaining a utility model patent/registration will constitute 3-6 months.

The term of utility model patent is 5 years. A renewal is allowed for the next 3 years.
